Operation Lutzkendorf Reason for Loss Shot down by flak gunners during the final attack on this refinery.Plane was Avro Lancaster Heavy Bomber of No.9 Sqd. which took part in a raid on Lutzkendorf when it was shot down and crashed near Weimar, Germany. 6 crew were killed and 1 became a POW. Bernard's brother David joined the Royal Australian Navy and was killed when HMAS Yarra sunk.
