BATE, Alfred Vincent Eric
Plane was a DAP Beaufort A9-660 which took off from 5 Mile Drome near Port Moresby escorting P-40N Kittyhawk A29-649 on a non-operational ferry flight bound for Tadi Airfield. Both aircraft disappeared and declared MIA. During the early 1960's the wreckage of the Beaufort was located on a mountain ridge N.E of Myola. The remains of the eight crew were recovered and buried in the Bomana War Cemetery.
