BARKER, Reginald Earl
Following instruction as a pilot and as a Wireless Air Gunner, Reginald Barker completed a Recorder course in connection with Fighter Control and was subsequently posted to 102 FCU at Darwin. Shortly afterwards he moved to a Fighter Control Unit at Anjo Peninsular, Truscot Air Base in the far north Kimberley district of Western Australia. The drome received B25 Mitchell Bombers manned by Dutch and Australian aircrews which carried out raids on Japanese shipping and enemy bases on Timor. Reg recorded enemy activity off the coast. After being discharged Reg became an amateur Ham Radio enthusiast. He was also a member of the RSL for over 50 years.
