Plane was a DAP Beaufort V1 A9-52 on an operation to bomb Salamaua. The plane disappeared and was officially listed as missing. The four crew were lost. In 1986 the crash site of the Beaufort was located in steep terrain near Tapini N.W of Port Moresby. The remains of the crew were recovered and buried in the Lae War Cemetery.
